Who Writes Short Shorts? We Write Short Shorts!

It's time for fun! Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to write a micro-fiction story. What is micro-fiction? Well, the definition varies from publisher to publisher, but for the purposes of this challenge we'll define it as a story told in 100 words or less. Yes, that's right, a mere 100 words. Think it can't be done? Well, part of this challenge is proving how wrong you are. Go to http://www.gwthomas.org/flashshotindex.htm and read some micro fiction to get a feel for it, then try your hand at writing it yourself. You have two weeks from this day to write and submit your story to me, after which I'll bundle all the stories up into one e-mail and send them out for the whole gang to read and enjoy. (If you would rather post your short shorts to the SFWW website, we'll send an e-mail with the how-tos later this week.) Critiques are not necessary, but feel free to comment on the stories if you like. We also encourage all participants to submit their stories to Flashshot after the challenge ends. Flashshot publishes a micro-fiction story every day, and it's very easy to get accepted by them. It's a great way to get that first (or second, or third ...) feather in your cap!

So ready ... get set ... write!
