Can I 'howdy' even though there are no other howdies?

I am F5iver, and I've been writing for about 3 years now.
I 'won' NaNoWriMo in 2005 and 2006, won 2 scifi short story contests at Toasted-Cheese, and have submitted numerous places, still waiting.

I teach science.

My stories usually have a bio-science edge to them.
