1- Spring thaw – zombies thaw out and start hunting humans. The zombies migrate to the mountains in the fall for no known reason. They freeze and thaw out in the spring. The humans have adapted to this remarkably well.

2- Electronic, animal and human Intelligences exist but the humans have degraded. The dog based Intelligences, canis sapiens, want humans back. Maybe illegal to enhance humans.
