Ideas all over the place

I’ve got this split into two parts. The first is ideas based off old stories. Either sequels or prequels or simply the same world. I’ve put in links to any stories that made it to SFWW.

Old worlds

Magic as technology. In this world magic is the tech of the day. Crystals and spells are the way the world works until someone discovers gunpowder. Here’s the story: http://sfwritersworkshop.org/node/1352. To extend that someone discovers electricity. That’s as close to magic as we get in this world.

Hell is real. In these stories our hero goes to hell for various reasons: http://sfwritersworkshop.org/node/1209, http://sfwritersworkshop.org/node/1326. In the second he has a dog, a hell hound actually, three heads and the ability to appear as a normal dog. The dog may need his own story; his origin and bonding to our hero?

I have written a story in which vampires and werewolves are real. They are created from a mutated rabies virus. They don’t have the usual powers but are strong and fast. Maybe it needs a zombie apocalypse. Maybe someone trying to cure the vampires and werewolves manages to keep their strengths but ruins their minds.

I have a deep space collision of a colony ship which grew into a Nano story: http://sfwritersworkshop.org/node/1273. But after the ship, an AI, decide it likes exploring better than babysitting a bunch of farmers.

New ideas

A scientist studying multi-worlds quantum theory develops a way to access those other worlds but finds that not only are the laws of physics different but also that magic exists in some of them. I did sort of the inverse in this story: http://sfwritersworkshop.org/node/1195

Sarcasm officer. That’s the idea. I’m thinking that in a world where everyone is fed up with elitists running the show someone came up with the idea to keep those in charge more humble. Could be fun on a TV show like- The Orville.

Is there a place on this earth where one group doesn’t hate another for some stupid reason? That’s it, the whole idea.

A first contact on which the human ship has dogs aboard but other race is feline based. So they don’t like us for being friendly with dogs but get realyy annoyed when they learn we keep cats as pets. Their enemies, a canine race shows up and based on the different breeds we have thinks we genetically modified the dogs to be pets. And of course don’t like that we keep cats as pets.

Robot, AI ship crashes and needs to make bios as workers since the planet doesn’t have the minerals needed to keep their CPU technology running until an expected rescue.

First contact with a galactic civilization in the midst of a galactic election. Our opinion on the issues: are AIs sentient, number of votes for unborn eggs, hive minds, is it one vote per planet or per sentient species per planet.
