Today is one of those days where you wished you had spent a little more time on following through. I recently applied for a new job, and I applied electronically. No big deal. Well, I should have followed through when I did not get a quick response, but I am accustomed to goverment jobs where par for the course is a wait of three months before one hears anything. Thus, I was surprise to learn from an inside source that the potential employer was already conducting interviews. As it turns out, my inside source revealed, the employer never received my resume. It left my inbox and was sent into the virtual voids never to be seen again. Who knows, maybe I accidentally applied to be a blubber skinner in Alaska? Oh well. I should have followed up with a phone call or hard copy resume, but other pressing issues grabbed my attention and I did no such thing. As a result, I am not in the running for a job in which I should be in the running. [insert string of curses here]. Though I certainly could have been proactive, I feel this isn't my fault, and that quite likely the blame lies at the feet of some inept administrative assistant. Nontheless, [insert string of curses here]! Oh well. I'm no better, nor no worse, than before. I have learned a lesson. Sadly, it's: Trust no one but yourself. Sigh. :smt012
