This is poor but at least it is something. I think it has been too long since I actually wrote at all. Hopefully this will change that.

Magic System

Intro

There are two major kinds of magic. The first and most common is kinetic magic which is the ability to move matter with magic. It is basically telekinetic ability. The second and quite rare is electromagnetic magic. This is the ability to control electric and magnetic fields.

Magic is a field that is everywhere to varying degrees. It can be concentrated and repelled and depleted. Most people and some animals can use and manipulate it.

Magic and people

Magic is like most other abilities. Some can use it at will and are quite powerful. Others can use it but need help from stores of magic. Finally there are some, called magic blind, who can not sense magic nor use it.

Kinetic magic ability

This is moving stuff. With the proper control it can move molecules and create heat. Moving living things is hard because it tends to stop motion in the moving body which can kill it. It takes a very experienced and powerful magic user to move people. The most common use of this is in vehicles to move people about. The magic crystal that moves the car needs to be recharged frequently. As you might expect the next most common use is in weapons. They do not propel bullets but cause small areas of the target to move relative to the rest of the body. This can range from a gentle push to crushing bones. These weapons are usually in the form of a wand.

EM magic ability

This can create static charges and shock people. It can also create magnetic fields and affect metals.

Crystals

Crystals are magic batteries. Most crystals are artificially grown and then magic is concentrated in them by people. Some people are better at it than others. A good portion of the working people are involved in the creation and charging of crystals.

Use in the world

Magic crystals are the main energy source for most everyday activities. They are used for most light energy needs. Fossil fuels, wood, coal, oil are used for high intensity needs such as metal refining and large transport vessels.

Control of sorcerers

Very few people are able to control magic without the help of crystals or other devices. Even less are able to use both kinetic and em magic. There are only tens of people in the world who can do both and use magic straight from nature. These few have formed a council that monitors magic use and steps in if they believe it is being used wrong.

Magic companies

There are a few big magic companies. Think Ford, GM, General Electric etc. Smaller companies exist but are slowly getting absorbed by the giants.

State of the world

This world is in the 1920’s ‘30’s era. Cars are just getting popular and the magic batteries have only been around for a decade or so.
