What happens when your main character walks/swims/flies/crawls into a situation that he/she/it has been through before? Is it a case of Deja Vue? Have we learned from a prior mistake what to do differently this time? Is it an Oh Shit kind of moment?

Characters are supposed to grow and evolve through their conflicts, but what happens when the main character goes through the same situation time and time again. Is it a Groundhog Day (the movie) sort of situation, or one in which the character becomes really, really good at what he/she/it does (or bored, or stressed, or what).
