“We have breaking news,” the television newscaster said. “Scientists using the Large Hadron Collider have announced they’ve created a mini black hole. We go now to Chuck Peterson, who is standing by live at the scene.”

“Thanks, Jerry,” Chuck said. “Well, this news is astonishing. Scientists say that by studying this mini black hole, they’ll be able to answer some of the biggest questions of the universe. With me is Rolf-Dieter Heuer, Director General of CERN. Director, is there any chance this thing will grow and pose a danger to us?”

“No, absolutely ...”

Greg,

Fun story. I'm ashamed to say I didn't see the end coming. I have to admit that when you proposed 100 word limit I was skeptical but it has been fun to do.

If you have some markets please add them to the list I started.

What I think is the most significant thing I got from this writing assignment, is not necessarily the power of 100 words, but the power of the words that are not written. this piece shows that perfectly. You lead up to but don't tell the ending. You don't have to. This is writing at its best.
