It's a bit rough. More telling and not enough showing but I make up for that with two endings. Pick one. And it needs a better title.

Ghost

The realtor pulled a stack of papers from his briefcase and started sliding them across the table to Janice. As he presented each paper he gave her a brief explanation of what it was. She had seen them all a few days before so until the last there were no questions. He slid a final sheet across the table.

"What’s this?" she asked.

The title company got nervous. It is simply an acknowledgment that you have been informed that the property has been described as haunted. Sorry, they sent it over late last night and since we talked about the … ah … condition of the property I didn’t think you would object."

Wienies, she thought. The page had maybe three lines which simply stated that she had been informed that the property was haunted. "Is this to protect them if I see a ghost or if I don’t see a ghost?"

"Ah, ah…"

She signed the paper and slip it back. The realtor added it to the stack and pulled a set of keys from his pocket.

Janice stood at the end of the moving truck and directed where the movers should take the boxes. One of the movers came out of the house with a box and moved toward the truck. She looked at the box and asked, "Where are you taking that it belongs in the bedroom upstairs."

"Upstairs a woman told me to take it back to the truck." A second mover exited the house carrying another box. "You," she called, "take that back in to the bath."

"But that woman said…"

"All the boxes go into the house. Don’t take anything out." She stormed into the house to find the woman. There was no one there and the rest of the move in went quickly. She made the bed and unpacked the bathroom boxes then started on the kitchen. Near midnight she collapsed on the bed and thought about tomorrows activities. She would need to unpack her computer gear and her tools. She passed out wondering which room she would start on.

The next morning she got up and noticed some lights had been left on. I must have been more tired than I thought. After a large breakfast she hooked up the computer and tested the internet. All seemed fine and she logged into her web site and started the video camera.

"I closed on the house and moved in yesterday. I’ll need a few more days to unpack and get settled in then I’ll start the remodeling. I’ll post some photos of the place and we can figure out what room to start with and what to do. I’ll probably start with painting and patching before I move on to renovating the baths and kitchen. See you tomorrow."

She watched the short clip then uploaded it to her web site. Between the money she made from flipping the house and the hits from her remodeling web site she should be able to live in a finished house and work on another. She couldn’t believe that the house was so cheap because everyone thought it was haunted. Jan noticed that a few of her followers were logged in so she clicked on the comment section to see what they had to say. The screen stayed frozen.

"Get Out. This is not your house"

Jan turned to see a young woman The apparition floated back through the doorway and started fading from view.

Jan ran after it. "This is my house. I bought it. It’s mine."

The ghost materialized and screamed, "NO."

Jan covered her ears but the scream was as much psychic and auditory. Jan cringed and fell to the floor.

"He’ll never come back now. " The ghost faded.

Jan stood up and stared at the empty hall. Then a smile lit up her face. "I’ve got that on video." She ran to the computer but it was still frozen. Try as she might it would not come back. Finally she reached around the bask and pulled the power plug. A few minutes later it came to life but the last that it had recorded was her vlog.

She stared at the screen and then typed her address into a local news site. After a few dead ends she found the articles about the death in the house. A young woman had been electrocuted and the cause had been put on faulty wiring. There was speculation that it was caused by some work the dead girl’s boy friend had been doing but nothing could be proved. All other outlets in the house were up to code except the one that caused the accident.

Jan went down to the kitchen and fried some eggs. She had learned the hard way that working on an empty stomach led to mistakes. As she ate she picked up her tablet and typed in, "How To Summon a Ghost." Seventeen million hits came up. She started scrolling through them until she found one that matched the supplies she had on hand. She put the dirty dish in the sink and started rummaging through her boxes until she found the candles and a can of spray paint. One of the small bedrooms had an unfinished floor so she placed the candles at the points of a pentagram and shook the can of paint.

"You don’t need to summon me. I haven’t crossed over yet."

Jan yelped and dropped the can. It sent a pulse of green paint across her leg. "Gabriella. Please talk to me. I can help." She looked at her tablet but the clock in the corner had frozen. You have a bad affect on computers."

"You bought Robert’s house. Now he has no reason to return. I’ll never be able to tell him that it wasn’t his fault. As long as he blames himself I can’t move on. I’ll be trapped in this house until he dies."

"You mean the electrocution? It wasn’t something he did?"

"No, I had an old power cord but the prongs had been bent. I tried to pull it from the socket but couldn’t. I tried using a screw driver but that’s when I shocked myself."

Jan looked at her tablet. It was still frozen. Her idea of using the ghost to up her web hits disappeared. "I’ll tell him. You’ll be able to move on." And I’ll get my web site back.

"Why would he believe you. The investigators blamed his electrical work. He thinks he killed me."

Jan stared at the ghost. As long as she was here her computers would be useless. Her web site was most of her income right now until she could flip the house. Come on, she told herself, problem solving is what I do. "I’ll get him here. You be ready to talk to him." She pulled out her phone but the display was blank. "What?"

"I was electrocuted. I have this electrical aura around me. You have to move away a bit."

Jan opened the door. "You must be Robert. Glad you could make it. The package is upstairs. Follow me."

Ending 1

"It’s not in the room at the end of the hall. I don’t think I can go back in there."

"Yea, but it’s heavy. I can drag it out into the hall."

"Okay," Rob looked down at his feet and followed Jan up the stairs. He stopped at the top. "Could you please bring it out here?"

Jan nodded and walked down the hall. She had to get him into the room. In the room she picked up a hammer and slammed it in to the floor. "Owww. Help. It’s heavy. I dropped it on my foot. Please help."

Rob rushed into the room. Jan stood there and then pointed behind the door. Gabriella appeared and Rob fell to his knees. Jan inched her way behind Rob, she could hear Gabriella explain what had happened. Jan went down to the kitchen put on a pot of coffee. Well, no ghost to punch up her ratings but at least now she would have a web site.

Ending 2

Robert followed Jan up the stairs. They went into the room at the end of the hall.

"This is where she died. I blame myself a little but I’m sure the outlets were good," Rob said.

"Liar. You knew it was bad. Now you’ll pay and I’ll move on."

Rob backed against the wall. As Gabriella approached he grabbed his chest and sank to the floor.

"Having trouble with that pace maker? The old heart not working." the ghost said.

Jan tried to grab Gabriella but her hands passed through her. She took out her phone but the screen was flashing. Next she tried pulling Rob out of the room but he was too large.

Finally he closed his eyes and stopped breathing. Jan looked at Gabriella who had a smile on her face as she slowly faded from view.
